it be so for now. For in this way we shall do all
that God requires" on being baptized by John the Baptist who says it should
be Jesus who baptizes him. The
Temptation of Jesus. "The scripture says ' Man cannot
live by bread alone, but needs every word that God speaks" " But the
scripture also says ' Do not put the Lord your God to the test'"
" Go away, Satan! The scripture says ' Worship the Lord your God and serve
only him"

Happiness "Happy
are those who know hey are spiritually poor; the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to
them. Happy are
those who mourn; God will comfort them! Happy
are those who are humble; they will receive what God has promised!
Happy
are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires; God will satisfy
them fully! Happy
are those who are merciful to others; God will be merciful to them !
Happy are those who
are pure in heart; they will see God! Happy
are those who work for peace God will call them his children! Happy
are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires; the Kingdom of
Heaven belongs to them! Happy
are you when people insult you and are persecute you and tell all kinds of evil
lies against you because you are my followers. Be happy and glad, for a great
reward is kept for you in heaven. This is how the the prophets who lived before
you were persecuted.
Teaching
the Law. "Do not think that I have come to do away with the Law of Moses
and the teachings of the prophets
.
I have not come to do away with them, but to make their teachings come true.
Remember that as long as heaven and earth last, not the smallest detail of the
Law will be done away with- not until the end of of all things. So then ,
whoever disobeys even the least important of the commandments and teaches others
to do the same will be the least in the Kingdom of heaven. On the other hand
,whoever obeys the Law and teaches others to do the same, will be great in the
kingdom of heaven . I tell you then that you will be able to enter the Kingdom
only if you are more faithful than the teachers of the Law and the Pharisees in
doing what God requires.
Divorce
"It was said 'anyone who divorces his wife must give her a written notice
of divorce' But now I tell you: if a man divorces his wife, even though she has
not been unfaithful, then he is guilty of making her commit adultery if she
marries again; and the man who marries her commits adultery also"
Revenge
"you have heard that it was said, ' An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a
tooth.' But now I tell you: do not take revenge on someone who wrongs you.
If anyone slaps you on the the right cheek, let him slap your left cheek
too."
Prayer
"when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites! They love to stand up and
prey in the houses of worship and on the street corners, so that everyone will
see them. I assure you that they have already been paid in full. * But when you
pray, go to your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who sees what you
do in private. will reward you. "when you pray do not use a lot of
meaningless words, as the pagans do, who think God will hear them because their
prayers are long. Do not be like them. Your Father already knows what you
need before you ask him. This is how you should
pray
.
'Our Father who art in Heaven may your holy name be honored; may your Kingdom
come; may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven, Give us today the food
we need. Forgive uu the wrongs we have done as we forgive the wrongs that others
have done to us. Do not bring us to hard testing but keep us safe from the evil
one. " If you forgive others the wrongs they have done to you. But if
you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive the wrongs you have
done.
No
one can be the slave of two masters; he will hate one and love the other; he
will be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and
money. This is why I tell you not to be worried about food and drink you
need in order to stay alive, or about clothes for your body. After all, isn't
the body worth more than clothes?
Look at the birds flying around: they do not sow seeds, gather a harvest and put
it in barnes, yet your Father in heaven takes care of them! Aren't you worth
much more than birds? Can any of you live a bit longer by worrying about it?
" And why worry about clothes? Look how the flowers grow: they do not work
or make clothes for themselves. But I tell you that not even King Solomon with
all his wealth had clothes as beautiful as one of these flowers. It is God who
clothes the wild grass- grass that is here today and gone tomorrow, burnt up in
the oven. Won't he be all the more sure to clothe you? How little faith you
have.
Do
not judge others, so that God will not judge you. for God will judge you in
the same way as you judge others. " Ask,
and you will receive; seek and you will find; Knock and the door will be opened
for you.
Go
in through the narrow gate, because the gate to hell is wide and the road that
leads to it is easy, and there are many who travel it. But the gate to life is
narrow and the way it leads is hard, and there are few people who find it.
Why
are you so frightened? How
little faith you have.
Be
on your guard against false prophets; they come to you looking like sheep on the
outside, but on the inside they are really like wild wolves, You will know them
by what they do. Thorn bushes do not bear grapes, and briars do not bear figs. A
healthy tree bears good fruit, but a poor tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree
cannot bear bad fruit and a poor cannot bear good fruit . And any tree that does
not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown in the fire. So then, you will know
the false prophets by what they do.
"Foxes
have holes, and birds have nests, but the son of man has nowhere to rest."
Follow me and let the dead bury the dead"
"Courage
my son ! your sins are forgiven, ...Why are you thinking such evil things ? Is
it easier to say, Your sins are forgiven or to say Get up and walk? I will prove
to you, them that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive
sins"..... Get up, pick up your bed and go home!.
People
who are well do not need a doctor, but only those who are sick, Go and find out
what is meant by the scripture that says: It is kindness that I want, not animal
sacrifices. I have come not to call respectable people, but outcasts.
Do
you expect the
quests at a wedding party to be sad as long as the bridegroom is with them? Of
course not ! But the day will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them,
and then they will fast

I
am the good shepherd , who is willing to die for the sheep.....There are other
sheep which belong to me that are not in this sheepfold. I must bring them too;
they will listen to my voice and they will become one flock with one shepherd.

Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the world. No, I did not come to
bring peace, but the sword. I came to set sons against fathers, daughters
against their mothers, daughter-in- laws against their mother-in-laws; a man's
worst enemies will be the members of his own family. Whoever loves his father or
mother more than me is not fit to be my disciple, whoever loves his son or
daughter more than me is not fit to be my disciple. Whoever does not take up his
cross and follow in my steps is not fit to be my disciple. Whoever tries to gain
his own life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for my sake will gain
it.
Your
brother will rise to life. I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes
in me will live even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will
never die. Do you believe this ?
Whichever
one of you has committed no sin may throw the first stone at her, ...Where are
they ? Is there no one left to condemn you? ... Well them. I do not condemn you
either . Go but do not sin again. r
Let
the children come to me and do stop them, because the kingdom of God
belongs to such as these. Remember this Whoever does not receive the Kingdom of
God like a child will never enter
it. r

"I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this
bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the
world is my flesh."
The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, "How can this man give
us his flesh to eat?" So Jesus said to them, "Very truly, I tell you,
unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life
in you. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will
raise them up on the last day, for my flesh is true food and my blood is
true drink. Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in
them. Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so
whoever eats me will live because of me."

I
am the Light of the world, Whoever follows me will have the light of life and
will never walk in darkness.
I
am thirsty. It is finnished
I will go away; you will look for me, but you will die in your sins. You cannot
go where I am going.. You belong to this world here below, but I come frome
above. You are from this world, but I am not from this world. That is why I told
you that you will die in your sins. And you will die in your sins if you do not
believe that I am Who I am... When you lift up the Son of Man you will know that
I am Who I am; then you will know that I do nothing on my own authority, but
what the Father has instructed me to say. And he sent me is with me; he has not
left me alone, because I always do what pleases him.
Woman
why are you crying
Put
your finger here, and look at my hands; then stretch out your hand and put it in
my side. Stop your doubting and believe. Do you believe because you see me? How
happy are those who believe without seeing me.

Matthew
22:16: "And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians,
saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in
truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of
men.
17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto
Caesar, or not?
18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye
hypocrites?
19 Show me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.
20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?
21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto
Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are
God's."
"And then there were seven loaves for four
thousand people, how many baskets of pieces did you pick up?"
But what about you - who do you say that I am?"
"Out of my way, Satan!""Peter, you are
not looking at things from God's point of view, but from man's!"
"If anyone wants to follow in my footsteps, he
must give up all right to himself, take up his cross and follow me. The man
who tries to save his life will lose it; it is the man who loses his life for
my sake and the Gospel's who will save it. What good can it do a man to gain
the whole world at the price of his own soul? What can a man offer to buy back
his soul once he has lost it? If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this
unfaithful and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when
he comes in the Father's glory with the holy angels around him."
"Believe me, there are some of you
standing here who will know nothing of death until you have seen the kingdom
of God coming in its power!"
I command you, deaf and dumb spirit, come out of this
boy, and never go into him again!"
If any man wants to be first, he must be last and
servant of all."
"Anyone who welcomes one little child like this
for my sake is welcoming me. And the man who welcomes me is welcoming not only
me but the one who sent me!"
"You must not stop him. No one who exerts such
power in my name would readily say anything against me. For the man who is not
against us is on our side. In fact, I assure you that the man who gives you a
mere drink of water in my name, because you are followers of mine, will most
certainly be rewarded."
"And I tell you too, that the man who disturbs
the faith of one of the humblest of those who believe in me would be better
off if he were thrown into the sea with a great mill-stone hung round his
neck!"
"Indeed, if it is your own hand that
spoils your faith, you must cut it off. It is better for you to enter life
maimed than to keep both your hands and go to the rubbish-heap, If your foot
spoils your faith, you must cut it off. It is better to enter life on one foot
than to keep both your feet and be thrown on to the rubbish-heap. And if your
eye leads you astray, pluck it out. It is better for you to go one-eyed into
the kingdom of God than to keep both eyes and be thrown on to the
rubbish-heap, where 'their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched'.
For everyone will be salted by fire."
"Salt is a very good thing; but if it should
lose its saltiness, what can you do to restore its flavour? You must have salt
in yourselves, and live at peace with each other."
"What has Moses commanded you to do?"
"Moses gave you that commandment,"
"because you know so little of the meaning of love. But from the
beginning of the creation, God 'made them male and female'. 'For this reason a
man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two
shall become one flesh'. So that in body they are no longer two people but
one. That is why man must never separate what God has joined together."
"I promise you,""nobody leaves home or
brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property for my sake
and the Gospel's without getting back a hundred times over, now in this
present life, homes and brothers and sisters, mothers and children and land -
though not without persecution - and in the next world eternal life. But many
who are first now will then be last, and the last now will then be
first."
"We are now going up to Jerusalem,"
"as you can see. And the Son of Man will be betrayed into the power of
the chief priests and scribes. They are going to condemn him to death and hand
him over to pagans who will jeer at him and spit at him and flog him and kill
him. But after three days he will rise again."
"You don't know what you are
asking,""Can you drink the cup I have to drink? Can you go through
the baptism I have to bear?"
"You will indeed drink the cup I am drinking,
and you will undergo the baptism which I have to bear! But as for sitting on
either side of me, that is not for me to give - such places belong to those
for whom they are intended."
"You know that the so-called rulers in the
heathen world lord it over them, and their great men have absolute power. But
it must not be so among you. No, whoever among you wants to be great must
become the servant of you all, and if he wants to be first among you he must
be the slave of all men! For the Son of Man himself has not come to be served
but to serve, and to give his life to set many others free."
